Destination weddings are always my favorite…by far. Not only because you get to photograph something that is SO different that what you’re used to, but because you really get close with the groups you photograph-you become PART of the group. Kim and Pat’s wedding was no exception! As soon as we met Kim and Pat, we knew they were our kind of couple…laid back, in love, and up for whatever! They even trusted us enough to change the location for portraits DAY OF because of an awesome hike that we randomly did that morning…. but more on that later! Kim and Pat are a couple who you can really see getting old together..they have so much fun and it’s apparent! Filled with so many laughs, this simple wedding was one for the books!
Kim gave the sweetest gifts to her bridesmaids!
The ceremony was held at their parents house in Waikiki, making for an awesome, intimate feel!
Everyone was so caught up in the ceremony, that they forgot to shower them with flower petals as they walked down the aisle…so, this is what we did instead!
This. Tree. Doesn’t get much more Hawaiian than that, right?! Wrong. Just wait. 🙂
I don’t think they could have even taken a serious picture if I had tried….
We found out during the rehearsal “sunset cruise” that Pat was somewhat of a pro at the dip, so..of course we had to do a little of that the day of!
So, this was a last minute change to our plans and thank GOODNESS they listened to our craziness. Earlier that morning, Trent and I, along with her bridesmaid Courtney and her husband Derrick, all went on a hike, not knowing what to expect. All of a sudden….BAM, you see a forest worthy of being in Avator..(but actually where they filmed Hunger Games and Jurassic Park, fun fact!) From then on, I KNEW I had to ask her if we could go there. Of course, being the awesome person she is…she said “Whatever! I trust you!” and I’m SOOO glad we did!
And then they danced the night away!! 🙂 Thank you both for trusting Trent and I to capture your special day!! We not only came away with awesome clients…but most importantly, a whole group of FRIENDS! Which is what it’s all about, right?!
